Netflix has an innovation business as usual culture

I read a great post today by Adrian Cockcroft, who is the cloud architect for Netflix.  His post describes how Netflix can continue to innovate so rapidly and stay ahead of its competition.  His argument is that Netflix has a culture that sustains innovation, and “business as usual” enables innovation rather than inhibits innovation.

While many of his examples are IT related, the challenges he talks about in relation to innovation at Netflix should be familiar to many readers but the results are unusual.  Perhaps we need to add Netflix to the pantheon of Relentless Innovators like P&G, Apple, 3M, Google and Gore.  Time will tell.  But while we are considering adding another visage to the Mount Rushmore of Innovation, check out his post, which details how Netflix ended up with an innovation business as usual culture.  Note how what he attributes Netflix’s success to is based on culture, compensation, rewards, communication and other “soft” skills.
